ACHAD-NA-SINE translates as "The field of storms" in Gaelic. Sitting at the foot of Bheinn Fionn in Strathbran The Cottage has stunning views in all directions, with Sgurr a Mhuillin to the south east, Ben Wyvis to the east and Liatach to the west. The village was at one time a drovers stop where cattle driven from Glen Carron to the south west and Torridon, Gairloch and Poolewe areas to the north west would meet before being driven to markets at either Dingwall or Inverness. The line of the old drovers road can still be seen about 100ft above the main road on the north side of Loch a'Croisg ( Loch Rosque )

To the west of the village at the head of Loch a Croisg and opposite Ledgowan there are spectacular reminders of the Ice Age. Glacial outwash deltas formed from the stone and gravel carried along by the moving ice have left flat topped terraces to the southern side of the rivers feeding from Loch Gowan and Loch a Croisg. Click on image below for a better view of the terrace to the right hand side of the picture.

The Cottage, Achnasheen

Sitting in a commanding position overlooking the Village and the head of Strathbran, The Cottage is a very comfortable 4 bedroomed stone built house set in 1 acre of mature gardens, with open views over the River Bran to the mountains beyond.

The Cottage is mentioned in Queen Victoria's diaries, she visited the area on route to Loch Maree with John Brown. When the carriage from Kinlochewe was held up in Glen Docharty due to bad weather, Queen Victoria and Brown stayed at the cottage until the carriage arrived.

A perfect base for touring the Highlands with both east and west coast beaches in easy reach. An ideal haven for walkers, climbers, naturalists and outdoor enthusiasts. The Cottage is available for weekly rentals from Saturday to Saturday throughout the year
